Activities for Students in French & Francophone Studies at IWU
Students at all levels of the curriculum are encouraged to participate in the various activities that we sponsor. Please contact any French & Francophone Studies faculty member for further information.
La Table française is a lunch-time gathering in the Dug Out during which students practice their speaking skills in French in a relaxed atmosphere. It is organized by the French tutors.
Pi Delta Phi is the National French Honor Society. The IWU chapter, Mu Tau, was established in 2000. In addition to our annual initiation ceremony and reception, members of Pi Delta Phi often co-sponsor activities with Le Ciné-Club.
is a French film club that meets monthly and promotes cultural understanding and exploration of the "Seventh Art." Typical activities ofthis Registered Student Organization (RSO) include viewing of French and Francophone films, guest speakers, game nights, and the annual Mardi Gras party. Food is always a part of the festivities!
"Ciné-club and activities involving French and Francophone Studies provide great opportunities to learn about France and the French language from multiple perspectives.
They greatly enhance my learning experience since they reiterate important ideas such as diversity, culture, and language, and it means a lot to me to be able to share them with fellow students and faculty."
