First-Year Student Move-In

Housing Assignments

On July 29, 2025, we’ll complete the third round of housing assignments and notify those students of their placement. That same day, all incoming students will receive an email with their housing assignment, detailed move-in instructions, and a link to SignUpGenius to reserve a move-in time slot. There will be several slots available.

To help make move-in day easier, don’t forget to email your ID photo to idphoto@iwu.edu at least a week before you arrive on campus. You can see the guidelines for submission here.

Move-In Day: Wednesday, August 20 | 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
When you arrive on campus, your first stop will be the Hansen Student Center at 300 E. Beecher Street. There, you’ll check in, pick up your student ID, room key, and a campus map to direct you to your residence hall. Signs will be posted around campus to help guide you.

If your campus ID isn’t included in your check-in materials, no worries! Once you’ve moved in, just stop by Campus Safety to have it printed. You’ll need it to swipe into your residence hall.

At your assigned residence hall parking location, you’ll be greeted by Turning Titan Student Leaders, Residence Hall Staff, and professional staff from the Office of Residential Life and the Dean of Students’ Office. They’ll assist with unloading your belongings efficiently so traffic continues to move smoothly.

Once your vehicle is unloaded, the driver will be directed to a nearby parking lot. For those who may need assistance getting back to the residence halls, golf carts will be available for transportation.

After parking, you’re welcome to take your time helping your student get settled. Staff will be on hand to assist with moving items to the appropriate floor. As you move in, please help us keep hallways clear so everyone can safely and easily access their rooms.

There’s no need to rush—Turning Titan Orientation officially begins at 5:00 p.m., giving you plenty of time to get settled and comfortable.

Turning Titan Orientation

Orientation Services will host our Turning Titan Orientation Program from Wednesday, August 20, through Sunday, August 24. All incoming students—first-year and transfers—are expected to participate in this exciting program designed to help you build connections and feel a sense of belonging at Illinois Wesleyan!

Transfer students will have a tailored orientation experience from August 21 to 24.

Throughout the program, you’ll be supported by Titan Orientation Leaders (TOLs), who will be there to guide you, answer questions, and help you navigate your first days on campus.

Early Arrivals

Some students will move in before August 20 for things like pre-orientation programs, fall athletics, campus jobs, or leadership roles. If that’s you, please connect directly with the person or department coordinating your early arrival to make sure everything is arranged.
