Commuting from Home

Students living with parents/guardians within 30 miles of IWU who wish to commute from home to campus for classes must complete the Commuter Approval Form and return it to the Office of Residential Life (ORL). Written signatures are required; digital signatures are not accepted.

Approvals are granted on an ongoing basis beginning each December.

Note: The Commuting from Home process is separate from the Off-Campus Requests process, which applies to students who have completed six semesters in University-approved housing.

For students who choose to commute, financial aid is usually limited to tuition and fees.
