Hello from Bloomington, Illinois! I'm excited to have the chance to return to IWU
as the Director of Residential Life after more than a decade living and learning in
different parts of the United States. Since leaving with my BA in English Literature
in 2007, I've worked at Oberlin College and Conservatory (Oberlin, OH), the University
of Delaware (Newark, DE), and Emory University (Atlanta, GA). Education is very important
to me, so I earned a graduate degree in counseling while working at Delaware and a
Juris Master degree at Emory Law. I'm grateful that I get to use those skills to do
what I love every day at IWU. When I'm not on campus, I am probably watching bad television,
figuring out how to adult with my house, or walking like the wind.
If you have an idea for how to make something about the campus better, stop by my
office in the lower level of Gulick Hall!
Associate Director of Residential Life for Housing Operations
Hello from IWU! I am originally from Mason City, Illinois, but have been living here
in Bloomington since 2006. I went to graduate school at Illinois State University
(just up the road from IWU) and worked in the residence halls while finishing my Master
of Science degree in College Student Personnel Administration in 2008. I am proud
to say that I have been working at Illinois Wesleyan since I finished my master's
in 2008. I started as a Residence Director, living in the residence hall with first
year students, but I now work in the Office of Residential Life taking care of housing
assignments, dining plans, billing, and electronic records management (yes, all the
fun stuff!). I spend my time outside of the office watching TV, movies, doing trivia
with friends, or with my dog, Olaf.
We are happy to assist with housing, dining, or to get you to the right person on
campus - come see us in the lower level of Gulick Hall!
I moved to central Illinois to attend Illinois State University where I received my
B.S. in Social Work. My work as a foster care case manager took me to Peoria where
I worked with physically and sexually abused children and their families. Upon getting
married I relocated to the suburban Chicago area and continued working in foster care
with prenatally exposed infants and their families. My husband’s work brought us
back to the Bloomington-Normal area where we raised our two sons. Over ten years
ago I joined the Wesleyan campus community working part-time in the Office of Residential
Life. I later took a full-time position in another department and in 2017, I had
the opportunity to return to ORL and the rest is history!

Hello All! Margaret here. I'm from Minneapolis, MN and came to Bloomington, IL in
September 2018. I went to Gustavus Adolphus College (Saint Peter, MN) for my undergrad
degree in Management (Class of 2016), then went back to the cities and got my master's
degree in Student Affairs from University of St. Thomas, Class of 2018 (St. Paul,
MN). If I'm not in the office, I'm most likely at Target, playing with my goldendoodle,
Remington, or obsessing over true crime or my #1 podcast, My Favorite Murder.
Come by my office if you want to hear the latest true crime, want to chat about the
amazingness that is Target, or if you want to live in one of my four great halls.
I moved to Bloomington in Summer of 2018, having lived my whole life in Southern California.
Although the climate is very different and have received a good deal of questions
beginning with "why", I have really enjoyed having seasons and the different pace
here in Illinois. I received both my Bachelors in Communications and Masters in Spiritual
Formation and Soul Care in California. During my 6+ years in Student Affairs I have
spent time in student activites, campus recreation and intramural sports, and residential
life. One of the things I have enjoyed about my time at Wesleyan is that the opportunity
and pace at which students can connect and grow. It really is unmatched. In my free
time I enjoy spending time with my spouse (who is working towards her PhD in English
and Literature at ISU) and our pets. I am a hobbyist barista, enjoy being active,
woodworking, and learning through documentaries. Say hello if you see me around campus!
It's great to be back in Blo-No! I grew up not too far away in Peru, IL. I chose to
attend IWU and I graduated from this great institution in 2017. I received my undergraduate
degree in Psychology, and then went on to the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia,
PA) where I obtained my Masters degree in Higher Education. In my free time I am a
life-long Chicago sports fan, no matter how bad those teams are. I also spend a good
deal of time caring for my 2.5 year old dog, Winston Bishop. You can often find him
jumping on me in the Mini-Quad. Most importantly, I'm excited to be back at IWU and
I am especially happy to be in the Office of Residential Life again!
Feel free to stop by my office in the lower level of Gulick Hall if you have questions
about upper division housing, graduate school, or if you just need a safe space to
vent about your Chicago sports frustrations!
