Director of Residential Life

Hello from Bloomington, Illinois! I'm excited to have the chance to return to IWU as the Director of Residential Life after more than a decade living and learning in different parts of the United States. Since leaving with my BA in English Literature in 2007, I've worked at Oberlin College and Conservatory (Oberlin, OH), the University of Delaware (Newark, DE), and Emory University (Atlanta, GA). Education is very important to me, so I earned a graduate degree in counseling while working at Delaware and a Juris Master degree at Emory Law. I'm grateful that I get to use those skills to do what I love every day at IWU. When I'm not on campus, I am probably watching bad television, figuring out how to adult with my house, or walking like the wind. If you have an idea for how to make something about the campus better, stop by my office in the Memorial Center, next to the Dug Out!

Doug Meyer

Associate Director of Residential Life for Housing Operations

Hello from IWU! I am originally from Mason City, Illinois, but have been living here in Bloomington since 2006. I went to graduate school at Illinois State University (just up the road from IWU) and worked in the residence halls while finishing my Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel Administration in 2008. I am proud to say that I have been working at Illinois Wesleyan since I finished my master's in 2008. I started as a Residence Director, living in the residence hall with first year students, but I now work in the Office of Residential Life taking care of housing assignments, dining plans, billing, and electronic records management (yes, all the fun stuff!). I spend my time outside of the office watching TV, movies, doing trivia with friends, or with my dog, Olaf. We are happy to assist with housing, dining, or to get you to the right person on campus - come see us in the Memorial Center, next to the Dug Out!

Terri Knapp

I moved to central Illinois to attend Illinois State University where I received my B.S. in Social Work. My work as a foster care case manager took me to Peoria where I worked with physically and sexually abused children and their families. Upon getting married I relocated to the suburban Chicago area and continued working in foster care with prenatally exposed infants and their families. My husband’s work brought us back to the Bloomington-Normal area where we raised our two sons. Over 16 years ago I joined the Wesleyan campus community working part-time in the Office of Residential Life. I later took a full-time position in another department and in 2017, I had the opportunity to return to ORL and the rest is history!
