Minor Information

Requirements (click here for downloadable checklist)

A minimum of six courses, at least two of which are at the 300-level or above, to include the following:

  1. ENST 100 - Environment and Society
  2. ENST/BIOL 120** - Ecology and Environmental Problems or ENST 230 (formerly 110)** - Earth Systems Science
  3. ENST 397* - Internship (recommended) taken in the junior or senior year OR ENST 480* -Senior Seminar: Creating a Sustainable Society taken in the senior year.
  4. Three additional courses from the list of approved Environmental Studies courses.

** This course may count as an additional minor elective only if not taken to fill one of the required courses for the minor

Students pursuing a minor are encouraged to take an introductory environmental ethics course (PHIL 301 [formerly 302] Ethics and the Environment or  ENST/PSCI 365 - Ethical Dilemmas in Environmental Politics).

Courses may not count for both a major and a minor; and no more than one internship (ENST 397) may be used to fulfill the minor requirements.
