Michael W. Hull, Classical Guitarist/Educator
Guitarist Michael W. Hull received the Bachelor of Fine Arts/Music (Performance) from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the Master of Music in Performance at Illinois State University. Currently, he serves as Guitar faculty at Illinois Wesleyan University. T hroughout his career, he has taught at various institutions in Illinois, including Bradley University, The Conservatory of Central Illinois, Heartland Community College and more. In addition to IWU, he serves as an Adjunct professor at Millikin University, The University of Illinois at Springfield, Eureka College and Illinois Central College. His focus includes directing Jazz Band and Guitar Ensembles, working with Applied students of various majors and teaching young children in a thriving private studio. Mr. Hull is the only certified Childbloom Guitar Curriculum Program Director in the state of Illinois. Many of his youth guitar students have won honors in the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate Program.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Hull maintains an active performance schedule. His performance credits include The Springfield Classical Guitar Society Concert Series, a residency at the University of Baltimore, the Peoria Bach Festival and many other venues. He has served three times as Director of the prestigious annual Mid-America Guitar Ensemble Festival. His other contributions include original compositions for guitar, guitar with other instruments, as well as numerous arrangements for guitar ensemble.
