Masterclass with Dr. Chadley Ballantyne, bass-baritone
Join us for a vocal masterclass with Chadley Ballantyne, DMA, Associate Professor
of Voice at Stetson University and an accomplished bass-baritone. Dr. Ballantyne brings
experience as both a performer and teacher, with a background in opera, concert music,
and contemporary works. The masterclass will feature IWU voice students working with
Dr. Ballantyne on repertoire, technique, and artistry.

Vocal Pedagogy Lecture with Dr. Chadley Ballantyne: Exploring the Biomechanics of
Breathing
Learn from Dr. Chadley Ballantyne, Associate Professor of Voice at Stetson University,
for an exploration of the biomechanics of breathing and their role in singing. Drawing
on acoustics, perception, and biomechanics, Dr. Ballantyne’s teaching helps singers
develop greater awareness of what is happening within the voice through guided discovery
and cause-and-effect exploration.

Guest Artist Lecture - Dawn Avery, composer
Come learn about Dawn Avery, visiting composer, and her compositions, process of writing,
and background as a Native composer whose PhD focuses on Native classical music, Indigenous
theory, and Indigenous research.

Guest Artist Masterclass - Shawna Lake '87, oboe
Alumna of IWU and President of Oboe Chicago, Shawna Lake joins us for Homecoming as
our Alumni Recital soloist, but also to share her experience with our students, faculty,
and community. Join us for a masterclass on Friday morning to hear the wonderful sounds
of our oboe studio!

Laureate
Bring a lunch and lots of curiosity as we get the behind-the-scenes look at the production
of a new work for wind band, one that will be premiered later on that same day!

WE DECLARE: America 250 Concert with the Illinois Wesleyan Symphony Orchestra, Titan
Sinfonietta, and Wind Ensemble
Under the direction of Logan Campbell, these ensembles will present repertoire that
highlights the history of the United States of America through music. Featuring works
by Gershwin, Balmages, Dello Joio, Ticheli, Persichetti, and more, this program will
also contain a world premiere of Dawn Avery's newest work, Whose Voice. This commission
was designed to highlight the voices of Native American individuals in this nation
and the experience of America 250. Inspired by original poetry written by Illinois
Poet Laureate, Mark Turcotte, we are honored that they will be with us for this extraordinary
performance!

Titan Pep Band on the Quad
The IWU Titan Pep Band is bringing the beat to the heart of campus with an electrifying
performance on the Quad! Join us for upbeat tunes, strong school spirit, and a fun
way to connect with friends and enjoy the music! All current and former Titan Pep
Band musicians are welcome to join, and we will honor the class of 2016 and 2006 during
this performance.

Collegiate Choir Rehearsal
Any and ALL Titan Choir alumni are encouraged to join! This event is a rehearsal for
our Homecoming Weekend Sunday chapel service at 10:00 AM, directed by Director of

Alumni Recital - Shawna Lake '87, oboe
All Titan alumni, students, families, and supporters of the School of Music are invited
to this annual alumni showcase, followed by a special reception. This year's soloist
is oboist Shawna Lake '87. Join us for a wonderful afternoon of music and celebration
which will also feature Dr. Suzanne Segredo, Applied Instructor of Double Reeds, Lu
Witizig, collaborative pianist, and other students, faculty, and alumni musicians.

Sigma Alpha Iota Musicale
The Sigma Alpha chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota invites you to an evening of music as
we celebrate our history of sisterhood through music. The 102nd SAI Homecoming Musicale
will start at 6:30 pm and bring together alumni, collegiate members, family, and friends
for an exciting display of musical ability, cherished traditions, and the lasting
spirit of sisterhood. Spend the evening with wonderful performances and take part
in a silent auction to support our SAI philanthropy. Doors open at 6:00 pm. All are

This concert brings the excitement of jazz together with the mystery and energy of
the Halloween season. Audience members are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite
costumes and participate in our annual costume contest. Come enjoy an unforgettable
night of spooky-themed jazz!

"Of a Dream" - Songs of Emergence and Revolution
The IWU Titan Choirs' Fall Concert program is centered around the theme of emergence
from revolution, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration
of Independence by the United States founding fathers. The centerpiece of our program
is a Cristina Rosetti poem called "Echo" or "Come to me in the silence of a dream..."
set to music by Swedish-Italian composer, Ivo Antognini which beautifully reflects
the entire program in one piece. The program opens with the first movement of Mozart's
Vesperae solenes de confessore (K. 339) which premiered in Salzburg during the years
of our country's founding, and closes with two quintessential American tunes: "Clementine"
set by South Korean composer, Byunghee Oh and "Shenandoah" set by American composer,
James Erb.

Sensational Strings Concert - IWU Symphony Orchestra and Titan Sinfonietta
Highlighting our string students, this program will feature string faculty soloists
in Vivaldi's Double Violin Concerto in A minor, student soloists in Albinoni's Double
Oboe Concerto in F major, and other string selections.

Veterans Day Program
We honor the lives of service individuals during a musical tirbute to those veterans
in our community, as well as to the lives lost in service of the United States of
America. Repertoire will include Hymn to the Fallen by John Williams, as well as Armed
Forces Salute, to name a few.
