David Tucker

Visiting Assistant Professor

 

David Tucker specializes in modern Japanese history, the Japanese colonial empire and Manchukuo, and US-Japan relations, with research interests in domestic and overseas Japanese architecture and city planning, and in the production of overseas Japanese culture.  He did his graduate work in Asian Studies and Japanese History at the University of Iowa, with research in Japan and China.  This year he is teaching courses in Japanese movie history, the Asia- Pacific War 1931-46 (which includes the Second World War in the Pacific), Japanese urbanism and architecture, as well as surveys of Japanese and Chinese history, and modern Japanese history.
