Bio

Bryan C. McCannon is Dean of the School of Business and Economics at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he also holds the Robert S. Eckley Endowed Chair in Economics. 

Dr. McCannon’s research spans law and economics, behavioral economics, public choice, and judicial elections, with over 100 publications in journals including Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Legal Studies, Journal of Public Economic Theory, Journal of Institutional Economics, Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization. He has served as guest editor for Public Choice, Constitutional Political Economy, and the Supreme Court Economic Review. He has received numerous awards, including the Duncan Black Prize, Szenburg Prize, and multiple best paper recognitions.

Throughout his career, he has held faculty and leadership positions at West Virginia University, Saint Bonaventure University, Wake Forest University, and Elmira College. He has directed the Center for Free Enterprise, served as a coordinator to a law and economics programs, chaired departments, and served on advisory boards and nonprofit boards.

An experienced educator, Dr. McCannon has taught undergraduate level economics, MBA, and Ph.D. level economics courses, and has mentored numerous graduate students. He has also organized workshops and presented widely at national and international conferences.
