Economics Course Plan

Economics Example Course Plan (first 3 semesters)

This is an example course plan based on the 2023-2024 University Catalog; your actual schedule may deviate from this example. Your faculty advisor will work with you to select appropriate courses. Course descriptions can be found within the University Catalog. As an IWU student, it is your responsibility to track your progress each semester towards completing graduation requirements using the MyIWU degree audit tool.

* May be moved up to second semester of the first year.
** May be moved up to second semester of the first year, as long as ECON 100 is taken first. But, beginners are discouraged from taking more than one 300-level course at a time. 301 or 302 are recommended.

 

Study Abroad

For students interested in studying abroad, the recommended semesters are fall or spring of the second year, or fall of the third year.

Additional Information
  • All majors must take ECON 100: Introduction to Economics or show proficiency (see Catalog p. 167).
  • All majors must take MATH 176: Calculus I or show proficiency (see Catalog p. 168). Those with a strong math background and/or graduate school ambitions are encouraged to complete an entire applied analysis sequence.
