Captivating Confidence: An 11-Step Guide to Develop a Healthy Relationship with Yourself and Own Your Inner Greatness by Bianca N. Cotton '11
Wednesday, September 10, 2025 | 7 p.m. CST
Bianca N. Cotton ‘11 is a Chicago native and alumna of Chicago Public Schools, with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s degree from DePaul University. In her 2022 book, Captivating Confidence: An 11-Step Guide to Develop a Healthy Relationship with Yourself and Own Your Inner Greatness, Cotton talks candidly about her contrasting experience of smiling brightly on the outside and suffering silently on the inside. Through personal stories and practical steps, she takes her readers on a journey of personal growth, self-prioritization, and improved mental health.
Guest co-host Jessica Lothman '06 is an attorney with Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP with a practice focused on tax-exempt financings, and the current Treasurer of the Association for Women Lawyers (Milwaukee). Her path to practice went through a ten-year career focused on higher education administration, specifically international education, during which time she earned an M.Ed. from Marquette University, lived and worked in Cape Town, South Africa and Talavera de la Reina, Spain, and worked as a Study Abroad Coordinator at Marquette University. She graduated from IWU in 2006 with a major in sociology and minor in psychology, and was an original founder of the Council for IWU Women (which she is currently Chair of).
Audience members are encouraged to read Captivating Confidence: An 11-Step Guide to Develop a Healthy Relationship with Yourself and Own Your Inner Greatness prior to this virtual event and come prepared with questions for the author.
