Associates History

Adlai H. RustThe Illinois Wesleyan University Associates formed in 1953 when Adlai H. Rust '14 and Clarence W. Heyl '08 convened local business and community leaders interested in the advancement and support of private higher education in McLean County.

For nearly 75 years, Associates have been investing in the University, fostering top-quality undergraduate education and directly benefiting students in McLean County. We encourage Associates to engage with Illinois Wesleyan activities and meet faculty and students, ensuring they maximize their investment and witness its direct impact.

To celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2018, the Associates reaffirmed their dual commitment to IWU and McLean County with the launch of the McLean County Scholarship Program. Providing substantial scholarship support to local students, this program has had a tremendous impact on IWU’s local student population and the greater McLean County community.
