Brenda Drury

Education

Brenda Drury received a B.S.N. from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1985, a Masters in Nursing from Benedictine University in 2012, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Illinois State University in 2022.  She has a national specialty certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing.

Biography

Prior to joining the faculty of Illinois Wesleyan University in 2018, Dr. Drury worked as a clinical nurse in Obstetrics and Level II Newborn Nursery at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois. In addition, Dr. Drury also assumed the role of a Childbirth Educator where she developed curriculum, prepared take home packets and handouts, and taught classes to expectant families including childbirth preparation, care seat safety, and parenting. In 2012, she further expanded her involvement at Advocate BroMenn to assume the position of a Patient Satisfaction Liaison.  Dr. Drury was adjunct faculty at Illinois State University-Mennonite College of Nursing and IWU since 2015, teaching in the clinical setting. 

Honors and Memberships

Dr. Drury serves on the leadership board of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.  She is a member of Association of Woman’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses and also a member of Academy of Neonatal Nursing.  Dr. Drury is on the Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative-Mothers and Newborns Affected by Opioids workgroup.  She has served on the Healthy Start Advisory Board and as a guest educator for the McLean County Health Department.
