Amanda J. Kemp received her B.S.N. from Illinois Wesleyan University with a minor in Spanish in 2003. In 2017, she received her M.S.N. in Nursing Education from Saint Francis College of Nursing.

Biography

Prior to joining the team at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2020, Ms. Kemp began her nursing career as a staff nurse in the emergency department at Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. She continued her passion for critical care by working as a staff nurse in New York City, NY, at Lenox Hill Hospital and in Brooklyn, NY, at Lutheran Medical Center 2007 through 2010. Her family then moved back to the Midwest in 2010, where she has been practicing as an emergency department staff nurse both at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL. Since receiving her MSN, she has taught critical care clinical for Bradley University for one year, and then two years for Illinois State University in their America’s Promise nursing clinical and simulation lab. Ms. Kemp joined the Illinois Wesleyan School of Nursing as the Simulation Coordinator in 2020.

Honors and Memberships

Ms. Kemp is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing, Theta Pi Chapter. She holds certification in Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification (ENPC), Trauma Nurse Course Certification (TNCC), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and as a Faith Community Nurse. She was the recipient of the Carolyn F. Rupert Award at IWU in 2003. She received the Department of Nursing Distinction Award in 2010 from Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. Ms. Kemp serves on the Regional State of Illinois Disaster Response Team (REMERT).
