Experience SoTA

Whether you're coming for an audition, an overnight visit or just for an afternoon, we strongly encourage prospective students to explore our campus and get to know the SoTA community.

Ways to visit:

  • Schedule a campus tour. The Office of Admissions arranges individual campus visits for families to tour campus. SoTA Recruitment Officers are happy to tour our theatre complex with you and answer questions specifically about our programs.
  • Attend an Admissions event. The Office of Admissions hosts several virtual and in-person events to familiarize you with our campus. If you're visiting, let us know! The Recruitment Office is happy to meet you and customize your day.
  • Attend an on-campus audition. We intentionally limit our engagement with unified auditions because we want to get to know you, and we want you to know us. Audition weekends take place around our productions, so you'll get to see a show and, if desired, spend the weekend exploring IWU and Bloomington-Normal.

About B-N

Ranked one of the Top 10 College Towns in the U.S, Bloomington-Normal is a vibrant community noted for its cultural activity compared to cities of a similar size.

We are accessible to Chicago and St. Louis via Amtrak, approximately 40 miles from Peoria and 70 miles from the state capital, Springfield. This proximity keeps current students and alumni well-connected to Midwest arts and entertainment hubs.

Our community is noted for its dining scene and visual arts. We are the home of the prestigious Sugar Creek Arts Festival and Cogs & Corsets, one of a handful of steampunk festivals in the U.S. The Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Heartland Productions call us home.
