Greg Shaw is a professor of political science. During his years at IWU he has divided
his time between studies of American public opinion, the American welfare state, healthcare
policy, and public health promotion. His teaching supports both the Department of
Political Science and IWU’s public health program. His published work has appeared
in various journals, including Political Research Quarterly, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Political Science Quarterly, among others. He has served as a section editor at Public Opinion Quarterly. He is
the author of four books, including The Dysfunctional Politics of the Affordable Care Act in 2017 and Medicare and Medicaid: A Reference Handbook in 2021. His current book project focuses on healthcare costs and medical debt. He
spends his spare time with family and various community involvements, including the
West Bloomington Revitalization Project, where he serves on the board.
