The Illinois Wesleyan community is invited to attend the eighth annual Unity Gala from 7 - 11 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center on Saturday, March 7, sponsored by the Student Senate and Office of Campus Culture. Cultural performances and food will run from 7 - 9 p.m., with the final 2 hours offering a dancing and celebration portion of the evening.
The theme of this year’s gala is “Watering Our Own Gardens.” In the official invite, organizer Riya Patel ‘29 elaborates that, “Just as gardens flourish when watered, our campus only grows stronger when we invest time in one another, celebrate our differences and create spaces for everyone to thrive.”
Over the past few years, the Unity Gala has brought together more than 400 students, faculty, staff and alumni annually who walked the red carpet during the celebration.
Last year, the Unity Gala expanded its scope with student performances – a trend that continues this year with jazz, poetry, and dancing.
“It’s all about different cultures coming together,” said Assistant Director of the Office of Campus Culture Xan Daggett. “And it’s a celebration of the campus community as we get closer to the end of the semester.”
