Illinois Wesleyan's chapter of Psi Chi, an international honor society for psychology, was selected as a model chapter for 2025-26, one of 45 chapters out of more than 1,150 in the nation to receive this recognition.
This honor acknowledges the excellence and hard work of the chapter under the leadership of President Elizabeth Dale, Vice President Cadence Crull, Secretary Alexis Shackelford, and Treasurer Grace Liszkiewicz, and faculty advisor Marie Nebel-Schwalm.
In addition to inducting 15 new members in April 2026, IWU Psi Chi hosted a panel conversation, "Voices from the Field: Social Work and Psychiatry," featuring alumni who shared about their mental health careers, Alex Gohla '09 and Jen Laflamme '15.
In the 2026-27 school year, President Mannat Kandel, Vice President Ava Larson, Secretary Sam Cere, and Treasurer Tanya DeGroot hope to continue creating a beneficial and impactful presence on IWU's campus, including partnering with ISU and State Farm for the Million Meal Pack this September.
