BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Titans have set a new school record for their high achievement in athleticism and academics. Sixteen Illinois Wesleyan University students have been named as Academic All-Americans for the 2024-25 school year.

The Academic All-America program, managed by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), honors student-athletes for their excellence in both sports and academics. Nominees for Academic All-America awards must meet high athletic standards and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher. CSC recognizes Academic All-America teams consisting of student-athletes participating at all levels of NCAA competition, as well as NAIA, NJCAA and U Sports.

"Another record-setting year of Academic All-Americans is a testament to the commitment to excellence in academics, athletics, and the community that our athletic department strives for,” said IWU Athletic Director Mike Wagner. “In an incredibly successful year of competition, our student-athletes continued to have record-setting success in the classroom culminating in these 16 Academic All-America selections. This group, and all of our Academic All-Americans throughout the years, have excelled in the classroom, embracing the academic rigor offered at IWU on a daily basis, while also competing for conference and national championships — embodying what being a Titan student-athlete is all about."

Breaking last year’s record of 10 students, this year’s awardees contribute to 176 Academic All-Americans at Illinois Wesleyan since 1970. This includes 74 first-team selections, 49 second-team selections, and 53 third-team selections. IWU’s total places Titans in the top 25 across all NCAA Divisions and among the top 10 in Division III.

In addition, Illinois Wesleyan's men's basketball is No. 1 all time, across all divisions, in the number of Academic All-America selections; Titan baseball is now at No. 7 in the nation across all divisions and IWU softball is in the top 10.
