The School of Theatre Arts Presents Musical 'Head Over Heels'

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan University School of Theatre Arts’ production Head Over Heels debuts via streaming options Dec. 3-5, 2021. Tickets can be purchased online.

Head Over Heels is a James Magruder adaptation of The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia written by Sir Philip Sidney in the 16th century. This comedic love story and jukebox musical follows a royal family as its members outrun the prophecies of an oracle in order to save their kingdom, only to discover the key to their realm’s survival lies within themselves. Featuring songs from the 1980s all-female rock band, the Go-Gos, the musical includes hit songs such as “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” 

Head Over Heels is directed by Associate Professor/Head of Music Theatre Scott Susong, music directed by Instructional Staff Charles Berggren ’10, and co-choreographed by Jenna Haimes ’14 and Dance Instructor Sheri Marley, with scenic design by Professor/Head of Theatre Design & Technology Curtis C. Trout, lighting design by Assistant Professor Julie E. Ballard and costume design by Veronica Blumberg ’22.

Tickets can be purchased and the production can be streamed anytime between Dec. 3 at 12 a.m. and Dec. 5 at 11:45 p.m. The pay-per-view format will offer viewers a first-rate educational theatre production in the comfort of their homes.
