Oct. 18, 2021

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Streaming tickets are available now for the Illinois Wesleyan University School of Theatre Arts production of Life’s a Dream , the most notable work of dramatist Pedro Calderón de la Barca, streaming Friday through Sunday, Oct. 22-24, 2021.

Directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Arts Tom Quinn, an adaptation of Calderón’s play written by John Barton and Adrian Mitchell, Life’s a Dream tells the story of fictional prince Sigismund, who is imprisoned by his father based on a prophecy that Sigismund will terrorize the kingdom and cause the king’s death. Granting his son a brief period of freedom, King Basilio finds the premonition to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, leading again to Sigismund’s imprisonment. Navigating themes of agency and free will, familial loyalty and perceptions of reality, Life's a Dream is considered by many one of the greatest plays of all time.

Tickets can be purchased now and the production can be streamed anytime between Oct. 22 at 1 a.m. and Oct. 24 at 11:45 p.m. The pay-per-view format will offer viewers a first-rate educational theatre in the comfort of their homes.
