Harry Heuman '69, is the son of Holocaust survivors and a docent and speaker at the Florida Holocaust Museum. He will discuss pivotal moments in history which led to the Holocaust, his own personal family history and the present day effects of anti-semitism in our society.

Over 1200 trees grace the grounds of Illinois Wesleyan Arboretum, comprised of nearly 150 distinct species and cultivars. When trying to distinguish each from its neighbor, one might be reminded of the old adage…. “You can’t see the forest for the trees!” To help you discover our forest, Ken Detloff, Manager of Grounds Services, will lead you on a walking tour of campus and will point out many different specimens.

Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders–were awarded honorary PhDs at the 1969 Founders’ Day Convocation (the latter two in absentia). During his time on campus, Borman, who was Apollo 8’s commander, placed a time capsule in the cornerstone for the new Mark Evans Observatory. Join us on this 50th Anniversary of the groundbreaking to view the capsule contents.

Darcy has served Illinois Wesleyan University for 40 years and has been described as a gleaming representation of everything Illinois Wesleyan. Serving students has been her life's mission and she has been incredibly successful in this work. Particularly though, Darcy has consistently acted as a fierce supporter for the many LGBTQ+ students who have attended the university through the years, sometimes as a visible ally, always as a friend and mentor.
