Soundstage Use Policy

The Soundstage, located on the lower level of The Ames Library, is intended to be used for educational purposes and the legitimate business of Illinois Wesleyan University. Use of the Soundstage is limited to students, faculty, and staff who are enrolled or teach film studies and/or theatre courses related to film. A list of students in these courses will be provided to The Ames Library staff and updated if necessary.

 

Emergency Procedures

Students, faculty and staff using the Soundstage are to exit the building immediately if and when an alarm sounds, either through the emergency door to the right of Soundstage or through the main entry level exit.

Please note the locations of fire extinguishers on the lower level; the closest is outside of the Soundstage storage area directly across from the Soundstage door.

Any user who violates the policies below may be subject to review and their access to the Soundstage revoked.

 

Requirements for use:

  • Students are not permitted to use the Soundstage without a staff or faculty member present.
  • No flame of any kind will be used on the Soundstage.
  • Room capacities must be observed.
  • Food and drink are not permitted in the studio.
  • Only theatrical prop weapons can be used in the Soundstage space.
  • Do not use library carts to move/transport equipment; please only use the Soundstage cart.
 

General Use Policies

  • The Soundstage is open during regular library hours.
  • Be respectful of other students, librarians, and staff in The Ames Library.
  • Leave the Soundstage in good order for the next user: return all equipment to storage locations and place disposable materials in proper receptacles before leaving.
  • Please dispose of wrappers, containers, and tissue in the proper trash receptacles.
  • Personal belongings should not be left unattended at any time.
  • If you notice items left unattended, immediately turn them in at the Lost and Found located at the Library Services Desk on the entry level.
