Roads Less Traveled

Photo "Moroccan Farmers Market" by Amanda Smith, Morocco

"This market really is the epitome of hidden gems. While en route to spend time with a local family in a remote mountain village of Morocco, our tour guide asked the driver to stop in a small town so that we could buy ingredients to make a meal alongside the family. I offered to accompany her into the market and I'm so glad I did. That was probably the most 'local' experience I had where I felt completely immersed into the culture and got a real sense of what life in a small village was like".

Current Events

Photo "Correfoc (fire run)" by Emma Kennel, Barcelona, Spain   "Throughout the year, each neighborhood in Barcelona holds a festival to honor their patron saints. This festival was held in the Sarria-Sant Gervasi neighborhood honoring the saints Gervasi and Protasi. During the correfoc, individuals dress up devils, set off fireworks, and are eventually "defeated" by the saints."

Food & Wellness

Photo "Too Pretty to Drink" by Leah Bieniak, Barcelona, Spain

"Though I learned that matcha is literally not my cup of tea, I still appreciated the beauty of this brew, as well as Barcelona's cafe culture."

Judges' Choice Award

Photo "The Place of Fairy Tales" by Taylor Plantan, Snderho, Fan, Denmark

"While visiting Fan (a small island off the western coast of Denmark) with my class, I took a morning walk by myself to watch the sun rise over the Wadden sea. After returning to town, the sun glowed across the thatched roofs, and the greenery was bright, even in the middle of winter. Bicycles lined the empty streets, and the wind whistled through the brush. Fan is the place of fairy tales."
