Service Initiatives

Community Service, or volunteering of time in hands-on support of charitable organizations, is standard within fraternity and sorority communities. The fraternity and sorority councils provide several opportunities throughout the year for our members to come together to provide much-needed service to area charitable organizations and the community. These activities and events are coordinated by the Director of Service on the Fraternity & Sorority Programming Board, a shared organization between the governing councils within our community. Additionally, we encourage our members to participate in the variety of service opportunities within the IWU community.

GreekServe

Several times throughout the academic year, the FSPB coordinates service opportunities for approximately 100-120 members of the fraternity and sorority community. Chapter volunteers are able to sign up for a variety of approximately 4-5 different activities within the community.

GreekServe dates are currently being planned for the Fall 2018 semester.

Philanthropy Initiatives

Philanthropy, or making financial donations to charitable organizations, is standard within fraternity and sorority communities. In addition to philanthropies hosted by our chapters, the fraternity and sorority councils provide several opportunities throughout the year for our members raise funds for charitable organizations. These activities and events are coordinated by the Director of Philanthropy on the Fraternity & Sorority Programming Board, a shared organization between the governing councils within our community. Additionally, we encourage our members to participate in philanthropy opportunities within the IWU community.

Annual Greek God & Goddess Philanthropy Pageant

Each February, the FSPB hosts our annual philanthropy pageant competition, Greek God & Goddess. Each fraternity and sorority sponsors a contestant, who has joined within the past year, to compete to win a split of the proceeds from the event for their philanthropy of choice. Contestants compete in 4 categories: toga, philanthropy presentation, talent, and interview. At the event, chapters also compete for Best Men and Best Women on Campus, titles that recognize the most outstanding new member classes for the fraternities and sororities.

The Greek God & Goddess Philanthropy Pageant will be held at the end of Greek Week 2019.

Greek Profit Share Fundraisers

The FSPB will be partnering with area restaurants to host profit-share fundraisers to help raise money for various charities. These events are really simple. Members eat at the participating restaurant (be sure to take a flyer if needed) and FSPB gets a portion of the profits from that night. For those members who participate, they will be entered into a raffle for a gift card.

Please check back often for upcoming opportunities.

Chapter Philanthropy Events

In addition to the programs sponsored by our councils, many of our chapters host multiple philanthropy events throughout the year.
