26-27 Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Illinois Wesleyan University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy. Area of Specialization: Open. Area of Competence: Philosophy of Science, broadly construed. This position is a full-time, nine-month, on-campus, benefits-eligible position. 

Responsibilities: 

  • The teaching load is 4-4 and includes introductory logic, first-year academic writing, and upper-level philosophy courses. Candidates with teaching interests in Philosophy of Feminism or Philosophy of Race are especially invited to apply.

Qualifications: 

  • A PhD in Philosophy or related field by August 1, 2026, is preferred, though ABD candidates are welcome to apply. 

 Compensation and Benefits:

  • Nine-month appointment
  • Salary Range: 52-55K , and based on experience
  • The final candidate will pass a pre-employment background investigation.
