District Requirements for Student Teaching Placements
Criminal History Records Check
Public Act 96-1452 requires student teachers to authorize their placement district to complete a fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRI).
Information about the fingerprint-based CHRI checks is available through your assigned district office. CHRI checks cannot be shared. Candidates student teaching in multiple districts must complete a separate check for each district. Students are responsible for all costs.
Below are CHRI instructions for District 87 and Unit 5 student teachers. Student teachers in other districts should check with the district office for finger-print based CHRI check information and other student teaching requirements.
If Student Teaching in Bloomington District 87:
Submit to the Bloomington District 87 Office - 300 E. Monroe St., Bloomington, Il, 61701. *If mailing, include a note stating that you are an IWU fall 2020 student teacher:
- Completed District 87 Student Teaching Packet - print single sided; do not staple packet.
- A self-addressed, stamped envelope
- Your Driver's License or a picture ID
- Completed Physician’s Certificate from the Student Teaching packet (no earlier than 90 before the start of student teaching.
Fee Payment
- $52.00 cash or $54.00 credit/debit. NO PERSONAL CHECKS
If Student Teaching in Normal Unit 5:
Submit to the Unit Five District Office - 1809 W. Hovey Ave., Normal, IL, 61761. *If mailing, include a note stating that you are an IWU fall 2020 student teacher.:
- Completed Unit 5 Student Teaching Packet - print single sided; do not staple packet.
- A self-addressed, stamped envelope
- Your Driver's License or picture ID
- Completed Tuberculosis (TB) Test form from the Student Teaching packet.
Fee Payment
