Associate Director of Career Services

The Associate Director of Career Services provides leadership for career development (counseling, career readiness, and graduate/professional school preparation) and career engagement (short-term career exploration/engagement and other career networking opportunities). This position provides critical operations management and supervision (students and professionals) with extensive career counseling with students.  This is a full time, on-campus position. Responsibilities:

  • Career Counseling/Readiness; provides vision for and direct counseling regarding career issues at all stages of development and provides expertise on graduate and professional school preparation. Provide confidential individual career counseling. Administer and interpret career assessment instruments, to assist students with making choice of academic major or career direction. Assist students with job preparation activities. Advise students about the graduate school admissions process.
  • Educational Outreach/Career Exploration Programming; provides vision and leadership for an effective career outreach program, including short-term career engagement, skills workshops and industry panels. Collaborate with faculty to bridge classroom to career initiatives. Plan, organize and implement a comprehensive career engagement outreach plan. 
  • Supervision and Office Management; Co-manage the office staff with the Director, including supervising 3 staff, staff meetings and staff development. Review, revise and establish office policies and procedures commensurate with the university’s mission and career development needs. Manage operating budget and departmental assessments, including annual report and First Destination Survey.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree required; significant career development experience may substitute for some education requirement
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience
  • Knowledge of career and college student development theory, career development technologies; counseling experience
