Example Course Plan
Economics Course Plan (first 3 semesters)
This is an example course plan based on the 2022-2023 University Catalog; your actual
schedule may deviate from this example. Your faculty advisor will work with you to
select appropriate courses.
As an IWU student, it is your responsibility to track your progress each semester
towards completing graduation requirements using the MyIWU degree audit tool.
* May be moved up to second semester of the first year.
** May be moved up to second semester of the first year, as long as ECON 100 is taken
first. But, beginners are discouraged from taking more than one 300-level course at
a time. 301 or 302 are recommended.
For students interested in studying abroad, the recommended semesters are fall or
spring of the second year, or fall of the third year.
- All majors must take ECON 100: Introduction to Economics or show proficiency (see
Catalog p. 167).
- All majors must take MATH 176: Calculus I or show proficiency (see Catalog p. 168).
Those with a strong math background and/or graduate school ambitions are encouraged
to complete an entire applied analysis sequence.
