Choosing the right college can make all the difference in whether you do well academically, make lasting friendships, graduate on time, and get the most from your college experience. If you need help deciding which school is your best fit, see what some of our current students and our recent alumni have to say about why IWU made sense for them.
"I choose IWU because of the small class sizes and as a result, the relationship you gain with the staff and faculty. I found I learn way better in a class size of 15 rather than 400 students. I would advise someone who is trying to decide between IWU and another choice, that IWU is like a big family. Everyone on campus wants to see each other succeed and the faculty is here to make sure that your time here is a positive and memorable experience."

"Illinois Wesleyan challenged me to become the best student, leader, and person that I could be. If you're not sure what school to go to, try getting in touch with professors or faculty from the department that you may want to major in and ask all the questions you have or see if they can get you in touch with a current student that is in that major. It's one thing to hear how you can succeed here at IWU from a professor, but it makes a difference once you hear it from a current student who was once possibly in the same position as you are."

"The advice I would give to someone that is trying to decide between IWU and another institution is to think about what's important to you and how you envision your college experience going. At IWU, you will be supported and encouraged, you will have so many opportunities because of the close relationships you can form with the community. You get to write your story and plan your path with people that care about you rooting you all the way. "

"You have to know yourself. Decide if having professors who 'see' you and take an active interest in your growth is important to your process. IWU has small class sizes that create a personable environment for students and professors to interact. You will find accountability, positive support, and attentiveness in the mentors you encounter at Illinois Wesleyan."

"I chose IWU because it was the only place that already felt like home. I looked around during my campus tour and I could see myself flourishing here. The deciding factor for me was the small intimate class sizes, the ability to get to know your professors so well from the very beginning, and the support that I have always gotten from my friends and my peers. "

"I chose IWU because of the unique opportunity it provided to take a wide range of classes, both inside and outside of my major, at the same time as continuing my athletic career. For anyone trying to decide colleges, I would suggest going with the school that can provide you with flexibility and options, inside and outside of the classroom, to let your education grow as you do. Your time in college will consist of much more than just the time you spend in the classroom, and having a strong community around you, like the one that IWU has, will be one of the keys to your success in college, and once you graduate and begin the next chapter of your life."

"A high school teacher of mine once described IWU as "the best place on planet earth." I took that to heart when I was applying to colleges and ended up choosing IWU. After traveling throughout Europe while studying abroad and exploring Asia as an IWU Freeman intern, I can now agree with what my teacher said long ago. Returning to IWU made me appreciate the family and community I have here as well as the connections that will last a lifetime."
