While attending IWU, he kept on pursuing his passion in education through actively participating in field studies, internships, and student research following professional and academic suggestions from the Hart Career Center and Education Department at IWU. Tie successfully completed four internships in the field of education in the Bloomington Normal area in his junior and senior year. Served institutions included Heartland Head Start Learning Center, Thomas Metcalf School, Western Avenue Community Center, and Illinois Wesleyan University. He also gained a global sense of education through international internships each summer in Asia. In his senior year, Tie conducted academic research for exploring factors influencing learning experiences of international students in U.S., and attempted to provide universities with research-based methods to improve international students’ college and academic life. He attended the 28th John Wesley Powell Student Research Conference and presented this research. Tie enjoys traveling, cooking, and exploring his favorite topics such as NGOs and international higher education in his free time.
