BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University’s Wind Ensemble will present its second concert of the year on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
Filled with enjoyable pieces for both performers and listeners, the program will include: Roger Nixon’s “Fiesta del Pacifico,” Alfred Reed’s “Russian Christmas Music,” Timothy Broege’s “ Sinfonia Six,” John Mackey’s “This Cruel Moon” and Frank Ticheli’s “Vesuvius.”
Conducted by Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Lev Ivanov, the Wind Ensemble is comprised of the top wind and percussion students at Illinois Wesleyan. The group performs the finest wind band literature and is the recent w inner of The American Prize in Band Performance 2016-17. The group also tours regularly and has appeared at performances for the College Band Directors National Association Conference and the Illinois Music Educators Association Conference.
