BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University’s Symphonic Winds will present a concert on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
Conducted by Adjunct Instructor in the School of Music Jason Gardner, the program will feature Béla Bartók’s “Allegro Barbaro,” Ron Nelson’s “Mayflower Overture,” William Schuman’s “When Jesus Wept,” John Philip Sousa’s “Manhattan Beach March” and Dana Wilson’s “Colorado Peaks.”
Comprised of approximately 50 students, the Symphonic Winds concert wind ensemble includes both music and non-music majors. The group performs a variety of sophisticated and challenging concert band repertoire in several concerts throughout the year, both on campus and in the Bloomington-Normal area.
