BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The community is invited to join Illinois Wesleyan’s School of Music for an afternoon of choral music on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church (704 N. Main St., Bloomington).
The annual Christmas Choral Concert will feature performances from the Collegiate Choir and the University Choir, conducted by Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, J. Scott Ferguson.
“The concert will include a variety of seasonal sacred choral music from the Medieval period to the contemporary era and the world premiere of a composition written for the Collegiate Choir by Philip Lawson,” Ferguson said.
Visiting Instructor of Music Education Andrew Dahan will conduct the Vocal Jazz Lab Ensemble and vocal jazz group, Unlicensed Syncopation. Special guests include the Palatine Children's Chorus from Palatine, Illinois, conducted by Rachel Rosellini. The program will include works by Brahms, Bullard, Gjeilo, Lawson, Poulenc, Tavener, Sweelinck and others.
Suggested donations for the Christmas Choral Concert performance are $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and IWU alumni, and $2 for high school and college students.
