Classical Guitarist to Give Faculty Recital

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Classical guitarist and Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music  faculty member Mark Anderson will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Westbrook Auditorium, Presser Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The works on the program include Ernesto Nazareth’s Batuque, Pixinguinha’s Lamentos, Bach’s Chaconne from Violin Partita, BWV 1004, Joaquín Rodrigo’s Tres piezas espa ñ olas, and Grab It! by Jacob ter Veldhuis.

Anderson is an adjunct instructor of guitar. Described as a “soulful and intelligent musician,” he received his undergraduate degree from Elmhurst College, and earned a master of music degree in classical guitar from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has performed in locations throughout the United States and Europe and presented the U.S. premiere of “Rising Spirals” by award-winning composer Chinary Ung. In addition to performing and teaching, Anderson maintains a private studio in Chicago.
