    The School of Music will host a day of sharing teaching tips, repertoire and techniques, for current and future violin and viola private teachers, school string teachers, and others.

    Parents and guardians of incoming students are welcomed to the IWU family with a day to meet staff, faculty, and student orientation leaders, plus informational sessions and a chance to experience Illinois Wesleyan first hand.

    Commencement for the Class of 2017

    Kathleen M. Murray, 1979 IWU alumna and the current president of Whitman College in Washington state, will give the keynote address as Illinois Wesleyan celebrates Commencement for the Class of 2017.

    Final Examinations

    The last day of spring semester classes is Tuesday, April 25. There are no classes for Reading Day on Wednesday, April 26. Final exams are April 27-May 2.

    Students Compose, Direct, Perform One-Act Operas

    The School of Music's Opera Workshop will present one-act operas composed by students, plus selections from Stravinsky's Mavra, on April 22-23 at Westbrook Auditorium.

    Tahera Ahmad, Northwestern University's director of interfaith engagement, will host a campus workshop entitled "Resisting Religious Intolerance and Celebrating Religious Diversity."

    The Honorable Gro Brundtland, the first female prime minister of Norway and former director-general of the World Health Organization, will speak on sustainable development and climate change.
