Voice Students Advance to National Competition

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Two Illinois Wesleyan University music students are eligible to compete at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) 2017 national student auditions based on their performances at a recent regional competition.
Crystal Muro ’19, a vocal performance major from Itasca, Ill., won second place in the Lower College Women division at the Central Region NATS competition. Vocal performance major Kelly Riordan’19 of La Grange Park, Ill., received an honorable mention. Both are students of Adjunct Instructor of Voice Ingrid Kammin.
Seven other Illinois Wesleyan students advanced to the semi-final round: Miranda Mhoon ’17, Jessica Schultz ’17, Celia Williams ’17, Kate Masson ’18, John Fegan ’17, Cody House ’18 and Austin Rupert ’18. More than 450 competitors participated in the regional event.
