BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Two Illinois Wesleyan University students have been selected as recipients of competitive scholarships from the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation.
Thomas Bravos ’17 (St. Charles, Ill.) and Christina Fitsalos ’19 (Naperville, Ill.) will be honored June 18 along with more than 40 students attending Brown, Notre Dame, Dartmouth and other top universities. The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation selects the scholarship recipients from hundreds of applicants. The recipients represent the “best and brightest Greek American undergraduates in the nation. Each of these students has demonstrated exceptional academic performance, dedication to their Hellenic background, and potential to become future leaders and significant contributors to society,” according to the Foundation.
Bravos is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Musicianship at Illinois Wesleyan. He has been named to the Dean’s List multiple semesters. Bravos is the tenor section leader in the Collegiate Choir, and also performs with IWU Opera Theatre, Chamber Singers, and the vocal jazz group Unlicensed Syncopation. He is also a music ambassador, promotions director and DJ for Illinois Wesleyan’s radio station WESN, and a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia national music fraternity. He is a member of the musical group Blue Umbrellas.
Fitsalos is pursuing a dual degree in vocal performance and business administration. At Illinois Wesleyan she is secretary of Kappa Delta sorority, sings with the student-run vocal group Consort, and serves as social media manager for the School of Music’s voice department. She has also been named to the Dean’s List at Illinois Wesleyan.
