BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Über Horn Quartet, an ensemble that includes Illinois Wesleyan University adjunct instructor Kelly Langenberg, will present a recital at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 in Evelyn Chapel, 1301 N. Park St. The group's appearance is part of Winter Horn Fest for high school French horn players of all levels. The ensemble will also present a master class during Winter Horn Fest.
Based in Chicago, Über Horn Quartet features four of the city’s top horn players. The members say they are passionate about making the horn and its colorful sound accessible and enjoyable for all audiences, with a repertoire ranging from traditional horn literature to modern American composers and jazz-style pieces.
Along with playing in the Über Horn Quartet and her work as an educator, Langenberg is currently principal horn of the Dubuque Symphony and the Light Opera Works Orchestra. She has been featured as a soloist with the Waukegan Symphony, Muscatine Symphony and Clinton Symphony of Iowa. She is a member of the Alliance Brass Quintet, for which she has been on two national tours, the Chicago Horn Consort, and has performance frequently with the Chicago Philharmonic. Langenberg earned bachelor’s degrees at the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory and a master’s degree in horn performance from DePaul University.
The Jan. 22 concert is free and open to the public.
