Vocal, Instrumental Jazz Groups to Perform

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University vocal jazz and instrumental groups will present a concert Thursday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The concert is free and open to the public.

Vocal jazz group Unlicensed Syncopation, directed by Andrew Dahan, head of music education, will perform Green Garden and She, both by Laura Mvula, My Favorite Things by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Silent Night, As by Stevie Wonder, Stand Up and Make a Change by Ly Wilder, Moanin’  by Timmons and Hendricks, and Kaleidoscope Heart/Bluebird by Sara Bareilles.

Directed by Adjunct Instructor of Music Glenn Wilson, the Jazz Combo will present Lullaby of the Leaves by Petkere, Amando’s Rhumba by Chick Corea, Stompin’ at the Savoy by Edgar Sampson, As Time Goes By, written by Herman Hepfeld, and Cardianlia, written by student Mitch Galgan ’19. Jazz Combo members include: Amy Clapp ’19 on saxophone, Patrick Ward ’20 on trombone, Paul Johnson ’19 on piano, Robby Kuntz ’18 on drums, and Galgan on bass.
