BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Collegiate Choir Chamber Ensemble will present a concert of sacred music May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Evelyn Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
The 22-voice ensemble will present a program of choral music that was performed during the group’s recent tour of Paris, Chartres and Normandy, France. That program included Ave Maria, Gustav Holst’s Nunc Dimittis, selections from Urmas Sisask’s Gloria Patri, and works by contemporary composers Stephen Paulus and Philip Lawson, in addition to other works.
The Collegiate Choir is dedicated to the performance of the finest sacred and secular choral music of the past six centuries. Students are selected by audition and maintain a rigorous rehearsal schedule in preparation for their annual concert tour and other engagements throughout the year. In addition to annual domestic tours, the choir tours internationally every four years. Past tours have traveled to Italy, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Spain and Germany.
