BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Illinois Wesleyan Chamber Music Series will present a recital at 8 p.m. March 8 featuring several Brass Ensembles.
The brass quintet will feature Michelle Riechers ’16 and Jeremy Gruner ’16 on trumpet, Jessica Sheetz ’19 on horn, Samantha Stevens ’16 on trombone and Jacob Taitel ’18 on tuba, performing Sextet by Oskar Böhme and Golyardes’ Grounde by Malcolm Forsyth. Shaun Schaefers ’16, trumpet, Amy Gordon ’19 horn, and Maria Wipfler ’19, trombone, will perform Trio for Brass by Robert Sanders. Lauren Kiesewetter ’16, horn, Ruben Mercado ’19, trombone, and Philip Bertrand ’16, trombone, will present David Uber’s Five Concert Trios, featuring movements Reflection, Choreographer’s Delight, Gettysburg Elegy, Tarantella, and Dance of the Slides. The concert will conclude with Suite for Five Trumpets by Ronald Lo Presti, featuring Riechers, Gruner, Schaefers, Megan Donnelly ’18, Matthew Capone ’18, Zachary Kuenstle ’19, Matthew Lenehan ’19, Steven Landeweer ’17, Paige Seitz ’19 and Tim McDunn '16.
The student ensembles are led by Adjunct Instructor of Music Jennifer Brown. She has performed with ensembles including the Illinois Brass Quintet, The Prairie Ensemble, and the Danville and Owensboro Symphony Orchestras. Brown is currently working on her doctorate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The concert will be held in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
