BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — President Richard F. Wilson announced today that Bob Geraty has been appointed interim dean of admissions, effective Aug. 1, 2015. In this role, Geraty will have primary responsibility for managing the Office of Admissions and provide leadership related to recruiting the fall 2016 entering class. In this role, he will work closely with Dean of Enrollment Management Bob Murray.
“We are fortunate to have someone with Bob Geraty’s knowledge and experience to serve in this important interim role,” said Wilson. “The search for someone to fill this position permanently will occur once the new president of the University has been appointed.”
Bob Geraty brings more than 17 years of admissions experience to the position, beginning his career as an admissions counselor following graduation from IWU in 1998. As a student, Geraty was a double major in anthropology and business administration with a minor in history. He also was a varsity soccer player and worked as an admissions tour guide. While an admissions counselor, he earned a master’s degree in sociology from Illinois State University.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank Tony Bankston once again for his outstanding leadership of the Office of Admissions during my presidency,” noted Wilson. “His many accomplishments in admissions can be traced to his extensive knowledge of the University, engaging personality, strong organizational skills and great love for Illinois Wesleyan. These talents and skills will be equally helpful to him in his new role as director of the Shirk Center and assistant athletic director.”
