Summer Theatre Camps for Youth to be Held at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Two theatre camps for children and youth will be offered this summer on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Summer on Stage Theatre Camp, ages 7-12, June 8-19

The Summer on Stage Footlight Camp for children ages 7-12 will be offered weekday mornings from June 8-19 in the Phoenix Theatre on the Illinois Wesleyan campus. The camp will explore acting, improvisation, dance, voice and movement, and will conclude with a one-act play staged on June 19. The camp is limited to 15 students. Spotlight Camp, ages 12-18, July 20-Aug. 8

Summer on Stage has teamed up with Prairie Fire Theatre’s production of “Pirates of Penzance Jr.” to offer a performance opportunity for youth. The Spotlight Camp will run weekday afternoons from July 20-Aug. 7 in the Phoenix Theatre and Westbrook Auditorium on the Illinois Wesleyan campus. 

Students will have acting and voice instruction and rehearse for three weeks before presenting a performance for family and friends on Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. in Westbrook Auditorium.  More information on the event is available on the group’s Facebook event page.

Actors and singers ages 12-18 are invited to audition Sunday, May 17, 5-7 p.m., with callbacks Monday, May 18, 6:30-8 p.m. RSVP by email to cmonson@iwu.edu.
