BLOOMINGTON, Ill --- Illinois Wesleyan University’s Lisa Nelson will be joined by guest artists Anna Cromwell and Mira Frisch in a string trio recital at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in Evelyn Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.
Program selections include movements from Eichner's "Duo I for Violin and Viola in C Major, op. 10," Haydn's "String Trio in G Major, op. 53," Hartley's "Trio for Strings," and von Dohnanyi's "Serenade in C Major, op. 10."
Nelson is the visiting assistant professor of viola, violin and string pedagogy at Illinois Wesleyan. She received her master’s degree in music and her doctorate of musical arts in viola performance from the University of Illinois. Nelson is also executive director of the Illinois Chamber Music Festival and is an active chamber musician who has performed in recitals throughout the U.S. and globally, including Canada, Bulgaria, and Italy.
Cromwell is the associate professor of violin and viola at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. She earned a master’s degree and doctorate in musical arts at the University of Minnesota, where she was a Dahl Fellowship recipient. In addition to her teaching duties at EIU, Cromwell performs with Frisch on several CDs under the name Duo XXI.
Frisch is the associate professor of cello at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. She received her master’s degree in cello performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and her doctorate of musical arts in cello performance from the University of Minnesota. Frisch has presented at numerous musical conferences throughout the U.S. and has performed with several nationally renowned symphonies.
