BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Illinois Wesleyan School of Music’s Wind Ensemble will perform
at 7:30 p.m. April 17 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (600 N. East
Street). The event is free and open to the public.
Selections for the performance include David Maslanka’s I. Song: “Fire in the Earth”, Norman Dello Joio’s Variants on a Medieval Tune, Frank Erickson’s Air For Band, Mark Camphouse’s A Movement for Rosa, Joseph Turrin’s Fandango, and Robert Sheldon’s Metroplex: Three Postcards from Manhattan.
The concert will feature Jonathan Novak ’16 on alto saxophone, Adjunct Faculty Jennifer
Brown on trumpet, and Assistant Professor of Music Tim Pitchford on trombone.
Conducted by Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Lev Ivanov, the Wind Ensemble is
comprised of the top wind and percussion students at the University. The ensemble
performs contemporary pieces and has worked with world-renowned and award-winning
composers. In addition to performing on campus during the academic year, the Wind
Ensemble also participates in national music conferences and frequently tours throughout
