BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Sponsored by IWU’s Student Senate Musical, pop duo MKTO will be coming to the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts on Oct. 24 at 9 p.m. Illinois Wesleyan students can pick up tickets at the Hansen Student Center desk. Up to two guest tickets will also be available per person (additional tickets will be sold at the door for $10). The Red Scarves, a indie/folk group of IWU students and alumni, will open.

After releasing their first single, “Thank You,” in 2013, which made top 10 lists in Australia and New Zealand, MKTO would go on to release “Classic,” which climbed up to number 18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Members Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller say the group’s name comes from the two band members’ initials, but the name also carries a deeper meaning. The two told a New Zealand radio show that MKTO can also stand for “Misfit Kids and Total Outcasts” – which is how the two identified in high school.
