Concert to Celebrate New Grand Piano

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will celebrate its new Steinway Concert Grand piano, made possible through a donor’s generosity, Oct. 11 with a Piano Dedication Recital featuring the school’s performing faculty members. The performance is free and open to the public, and will take place at 1 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium.

Pianists include Gloria Cardoni, R. Kent Cook, Sarah Dale, Joy Doran, Eva Ferguson, Momoko Gresham, Erin Mulliken, Nancy Pounds, Ilia Radoslavov, David Vayo, and Lu Witzig. Featured instrumentalists include Roger Garrett (clarinet), Nina Gordon (cello), Vadim Mazo (violin), Lisa Nelson (viola), Tim Pitchford (trombone), and William West (flute). The recital will also include performances from vocal faculty members William Hudson (tenor) and Robert Mangialardi (baritone).

The program will include works by Beethoven, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Schumann and Liszt, “If I Sing” from the David Shire musical review Closer Than Ever, and “Galop-Marche,” a work by Albert Lavignac for four performers playing together on one piano.
