BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Spoken word poet Katie Wirsing will perform Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at
Illinois Wesleyan University. The event is free and open to the public.
Wirsing has been featured on NPR, the BBC, and many local radio stations, speaking
candidly on topics like gender, sexuality, and love. She was also a member of the
2006 National Poetry Slam Championship and was ranked 13th at the Women of The World Poetry Slam. She has appeared as the opening act for film
festivals, bands, and comedians, and has performed on college campuses around the
The performance, which is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and the Office
of Diversity & Inclusion, is part of the Queer Lives Speaker and Performer Series. It will take place at 7 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center.
