Civic Orchestra and Choral Ensembles to Present Concert

The Illinois Wesleyan University Civic Orchestra, Collegiate Choir, University Choir,
and faculty members will present a concert entitled “Voyage Into Destiny” at 7:30
p.m. April 10 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. Sponsored by the
School of Music, the concert is free and open to the public.
Repertoire for the concert will include: Franz Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, No. 8, D.579, I. Allegro moderato and II. Andante con moto; Johannes Brahms’ Schicksalslied, Op. 54; and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 IV. Presto.
Under the direction of Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Lev Ivanov, the Illinois
Wesleyan Civic Orchestra has performed with many esteemed soloists and is composed
of students from all disciplines. The orchestra is currently in its 30th season.
Consisting of approximately 44 student musicians, the Collegiate Choir performs sacred
and secular choral music of the past five centuries under the director of Professor
of Music J. Scott Ferguson. The University Choir, a mixed ensemble of approximately
60 members, performs sacred and secular choral literature of different periods and
styles under the direction of Visiting Instructor of Music Education Andrew Dahan.
Joining the ensembles are vocalists Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice Jamie-Rose
Guarrine ’00 (soprano), Adjunct Instructor Jennifer Hilbish-Schuetz (alto), School
of Theatre Arts Adjunct Faculty Harold Meers (tenor), and Visiting Assistant Professor
of Music Robert Mangialardi (baritone).
